Ana Jurpik's Biography
Ana on the shores of Beechy Island
Elmer's Products, Inc.

Ana has been sponsored by Elmer's Products, Inc in order for her to voyage to Greenland and the High Arctic this summer, 2006.

While there, Ana and fellow artists handed out art supplies generously donated by Elmer's to children and artists in the communities.

Ana on the shores of Beechy Island. Behind her the ship, Akademik Ioffe. Rusty rings from old barrels surround her and you can see a plaque to the right commemorating those who died in the Franklin expedition during the Spring of 1848.
Ana was raised in the Seattle area of Washington State, U.S.A. She soon discovered the ability to render at a very young age. By pulling images from her mind, she was able to recreate the scenery through paints, pencil, ink or back then, crayons.

Throughout Ana’s adulthood, she tried to search out various ways of expression, enrolling in classes ranging from still life to life drawing, and experimenting with the use of mediums from charcoal to sculpture to music. In 1999 she released her original music CD called Xhale, collaborating with producer and musician, Steve Sherman.

Ana's studio and office is located in Markham, north of Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Here she rediscovers the freedom and the transcending power of art. “I usually start a new piece by ‘pushing paint’. The outcome is often a surprise, even to me. I believe no one chooses to be an artist, it is a gift given to you by a higher power.”

Ana is one of the 25 selected Canadian artists who voyaged to paint Greenland and the High Arctic this past summer, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first explorer to complete this journey. Please see nwp100.com for more information. She is also the designer for their official web site.

ARCTIC QUEST 2006
Art supplies donated to schools in Resolute Bay and Pond Inlet.
We are still looking for a sponsor to ship needed art supplies that are offered by Elmer's Products, Inc.
contact Ana if you can help
children from Ilulissat
Arctic Quest artists hand delivered art supplies to the school in Resolute Bay, donated by Elmer's Products, Inc. Unfortunately, we were unable to make it to Pond Inlet, due to ice conditions.

Kindly enough, the ship's crew delivered our loot to Pond Inlet on our behalf. One of the greatest need is for paper. Trees hardly grow in this Northerly climate.

Along our journey, we encountered many friendly, smiling faces. Artists spent time on the shores sketching and painting these beautiful people.

Shown are children from Ilulissat, Greenland. The eldest girl was pleased to pose as a model. Their reward... Conte Pencils all the way from France provided by Elmer's Products, Inc.
